Delete your CarDex account and data.

You can permanently delete your CarDex account and associated data from the iOS or Android app. If you no longer have the app, you can submit a deletion request by email without reinstalling it.

Don’t have access to the app?

Request CarDex account deletion by email. Include the email address or CarDex handle associated with your account so we can locate it. We may ask you to verify ownership before completing the request.

Delete your account in the CarDex app

  1. Open CarDex and go to your Profile.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Delete account.
  4. Select Delete account and garage and confirm your identity if asked.

Account deletion cannot be undone. The app will sign you out after the request completes. If an error appears, try again or use the email request link above.

Delete specific cards, spots, and photos

You can delete an individual saved car and its photos without deleting your CarDex account. Your account and the rest of your garage remain active.

  • iPhone or iPad: Open Garage, open the card, select the trash icon labeled Delete card, then confirm Delete from Garage. You can also press and hold a card in a Garage category and confirm the same action.
  • Android: Open Garage, select the card, choose Delete, and confirm the deletion.

This removes the saved card, its saved spot or location, and its stored photos from your garage. If you separately posted the card to the community, remove the community post first or contact support for help.

What we delete

When your deletion request is completed, we delete or de-identify the account data associated with your CarDex user ID, including:

  • Your Firebase Authentication account and sign-in association.
  • Your CarDex profile, display name, handle, biography, avatar, settings, and notification registrations.
  • Your garage, saved cars, scans, identification results, corrections, photos, thumbnails, edit assets, and saved locations.
  • Your collection progress, challenges, experience, badges, reminders, rankings, league memberships, and leaderboard entry.
  • Your public cards and sharing links, friend connections and requests, blocks, reports associated with your account, and authored community comments.
  • Temporary uploads and other account content stored under your CarDex user ID.

Deletion from active CarDex systems is normally completed immediately for in-app requests and within 30 days for verified email requests.

Information that may be retained and for how long

We retain only limited information when needed for a legitimate purpose:

  • Security and abuse prevention: Pseudonymous account identifiers, request counts, and timestamps used for fraud, safety, rate-limit, and abuse controls are separated from your active profile. They are not automatically deleted with the account and may be retained for the life of the service to prevent repeat abuse, enforce usage limits, resolve security incidents, or comply with law.
  • Purchases and legal records: Transaction, subscription, refund, tax, accounting, dispute, or compliance records are retained for the period required by the applicable marketplace, tax, accounting, payment, or legal rule. Apple or Google controls the primary marketplace transaction record.
  • Support records: Messages about your request and our verification or response are retained until the request is resolved and then only while needed for support history, an active dispute, security, or a legal obligation.
  • Provider recovery copies: Firebase Authentication may take up to 180 days to remove deleted authentication information from live and backup systems. Other providers delete or de-identify their copies under their documented schedules and our agreements with them.
  • Analytics and diagnostics: Google Analytics for Firebase user- and event-level data is retained for 2 or 14 months, depending on the property setting, and Crashlytics diagnostic data is retained for 90 days before removal begins. Aggregated reports that no longer identify an active CarDex profile may remain longer.
  • Content involving other users: We may retain a de-identified record of a safety report, moderation action, or content another user created where needed to protect that user or preserve the integrity of a conversation.

Retained information is not kept in your active CarDex profile and is used only for the reason it was retained. See the CarDex Privacy Policy for more detail. Subscriptions must be canceled separately

Deleting your CarDex account or uninstalling CarDex does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. The marketplace that billed you controls subscription cancellation and refunds.

Cancel before deleting your account if you do not want the subscription to renew. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current billing period, subject to the marketplace’s terms.
